Description
One of the oldest trees still living on Earth, cedar has not changed much since prehistoric times. Its ancient roots are used to invoke equally ancient spirits for protection, wisdom, and the removal of unwanted influences from any area.
From its very beginning, cedar has been an integral part of holy smudge rituals for cultures across the world. In fact, the English word for cedar is derived from the old Hebrew word “qatar”, which means to smudge. In Sanskrit, cedar is called “devdar” or “deodar”, which means “timber of the gods,” denoting its high status and cultural importance.
Cedar can be used to purify a new home or space, to banish unwanted spirits, invoke protection, and leave a fresh, woodsy aroma when burned in a smudge ritual. The wood of the cedar tree and its foliage can both be used for smudge rituals.
Our cedar smudge sticks are approximately 5-6 inches long and use both the wood and foliage for a long-lasting, powerful burn. Use our cedar smudge sticks to invoke protection in your next smudge ritual.
